Seen from afar, planet Earth shows white and blue. White comes from ice on the poles, on mountains and clouds in the atmosphere. Clouds cover about 60% of the planet at any moment. Blue comes from the oceans and other large bodies of water. This image shows the Pacific Ocean seen from the International Space Station at an altitude of 391 km (243 mi).
