These clouds in the atmosphere of planet Neptune are seen to cast shadows on the atmosphere lying below. Neptune is the planet furthest from the Sun and it came as a surprise to find that it has an active atmosphere. The clouds are stretched along lines of approximately constant latitude. The width of the cloud streaks ranges from 50 to 200 km (31 to 124 mi). Cloud heights are about 50 km (31 mi).
