Asteroid 243 Ida is one of the great many small bodies located in the Asteroid Belt between planets Mars and Jupiter. It is about 56 km (35 mi) long and has a tiny 1.5 km (1 mi) large satellite. Asteroids are left-overs from the formation of the Solar System. This image was taken by the Galileo spacecraft flying by on its way to Jupiter in 1993.
