One of the most famous spiral galaxies is the Sombrero Galaxy, named after its Mexican hat-like shape. It is located at a distance of about 30 million light-years from the Sun. It has a mass about 800 billion times the mass of the Sun, slightly more than the Milky Way Galaxy. The dominant central bulge is composed mainly of mature stars, its nearly edge-on disc containing stars, gas and dust.
