The Hubble Ultra-Deep Field is an image of a small region of space in the Fornax constellation. It is composited from Hubble Space Telescope data acquired between September 24, 2003 and January 16, 2004. The total exposure time was just under one million seconds (about 11 days). The image contains an estimated 10 000 galaxies and looks about 13 billion years back in time, about 400-800 million years after the Big Bang. The animation used in the film was created from this image.
